Sunday Reflections|2

There are some weeks when you are going to triumph, where everything goes as planned and no obstacle seems too big to hurdle over. Then there are other weeks or days that make it difficult to continue steering in the right direction. I just had one of those weeks. Up until Thursday everything went off as planned and with a bang! I crushed my workouts, two of them per day as I have been doing for a while now, and the scale was steady at 1.3 pounds lower average than the week before (every week the average gets lower and that is exciting!)

Wednesday night we spontaneously went to a Portland Trailblazer game which was fun as always, but that lead to several drinks (and drinking is not something I can handle any more, even a little seems to kill me), I wouldn’t say I was “hungover” but I was definitely not feeling motivated to do much. So I cleaned, house which inevitably turns into somewhat of a workout due to a couple things:

  1. My house isn’t the tiniest so cleaning every inch of it takes time and effort
  2. Every time I start cleaning it turns into a solo dance party lasting several hours

However it was 1 of 3 days I’ve missed a workout in Jan, so I feel guilty. On the plus side I did get loads of personal things done that I had been putting on the back burner. So it wasn’t a total waste!Β We were also supposed to go snowboarding and snowshoeing yesterday, but that did not happen and it was slightly disappointing.Β But my daughter having fun, and Kris launching a new business proved to be more important than snow adventures. Relationships are all about give and take πŸ’―

This last week’s highlights:

  • Strength-Ever feelΒ that you have gotten stronger? It’s the best feeling ever. I know I have, as evidence on Monday when we went night snowboarding (and even in the dark) I was riding better than I have all season. It was a lot of fun, riding at night adds an extra special element, plus it started snowing as we finished up and that’s always magical!

  • More outdoors-I was able to get outside on what was supposed to be my rest day and did a little hike by myself. Although I would prefer to go with a friend(s), it would appear that none of my friends have the same time off that I do so my buddy hiking is thus far very limited! It was still fun and I always enjoy being outside not matter what!

  • Non-Scale Victory-My clothes are fitting better every day, I’ve lost about 3 in. from my waist/abdomen, and I bought 2 new shirts in size small. That’s all the progress I need. Sure I was hoping the scale would be at least 2 pounds lower but I think things are ultimately headed in the right direction.

Today I am doing a yoga class and spending a lot of time to plan workouts, meal prep and of courseΒ SUNDAY RUNDAY!Β How will you spend your Sunday!?Β

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend and that your week to come is another goal oriented week of success!

  • Great job! I am inspired to get my butt in gear! lol and hey cleaning burns calories too. When I clean my bathroom I am sweating by the time I’m done lol. So exciting when your clothes start fitting better. Best motivation ever! πŸ™‚

  • Meeting your weekly plans through Thursday is fantastically good! Sometimes I barely get past Monday. It is good to have spontaneous adventures in life! It keeps things interesting, right? I am impressed by your 2 workouts a day!!! Only missing 3 workouts for the month of January is also really impressive. We are all works in progress and like you said, some days and weeks are going to be better than others. Missing a day here or there is ok as long as we get back on track and you were so productive with your cleaning/dance party! I love to rock out to music when I’m cleaning, but sometimes I dance more than I clean. Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday! Xoxoxo.

      • The dancing is a workout in itself! I understand feeling down. I get down too when I miss days and worry that I have gotten too far off track, but it’s not a good enough reason to stay down. You can do it! Xoxoxo.

  • Yeah I totally feel you on the solo dance party while cleaning house. Whatever makes it less dreadful, right? Next time just do some lunges on your way to the next room to clean lol

  • I went for a hike today, too! I know what you mean about feeling stronger and it’s such a great motivator. Sometimes I feel like my arm muscles are bursting out of my skin and I LOVE it! Haha!

  • A rough week seems to be going around! I managed my cardio workouts, but the extras I like to throw in did not materialize this week. I’m hoping for a more sane schedule and consistent workouts this coming week! And hopefully you’ll have the same!

  • Good stuff! I had a cheat day Friday which as you said always just puts you in a funk as far as feeling on track. Then I had to work 13 hours today so couldn’t make it to the gym, but the week is young! Still plenty of time to kick butt. I’ve never been snowboarding, but it sounds like a blast.

    • 13 hours is a pretty good reason to call it a day! There’s always time to kick butt, even if it’s a Friday! If you can make one thing happen in your life, let it be a snow sport (specifically snowboarding) It’s quite literally the best thing I’ve ever done in terms of “hobbies” πŸ™‚

      • I know when I was younger I used to want to snowboard but never got around to it, then kind of forgot all about it. I will have to give it a try sometime.
Also Friday our team meeting is at 7:30 central time. Not sure if I said what time, in my previous comment.

  • Congrats on all your non-scale victories! Those are so important. I’ve shaved an inch off my waistline, even though the scale hasn’t budged. The cold weather has been making me feel a little sluggish, but I like doing my workouts because they warm me up. Found you through the Dream Big Meet & Greet, and your blog is right up alley. I will definitely be following you closely πŸ™‚
