Discovery

You may have noticed I’ve been quiet here at Beach Body Bliss, and there are several reasons, the obvious one is that Summer has proven to be very busy… but as is often the case, there is a bit more to the story.

In the past I’ve written about how I never intended on my website to be a blog, yet here it is. A blog! And I’ve mentioned how the one thing that has been the same in regards to failed blogging is feeling the obligation to blog, even when I don’t really want to. All my life I have been one of those people who hates being told what to do, or feeling like I have to do something. And unfortunately, if you want to have a successful blog, you kinda sorta’ have to blog, a LOT.

Over the last 6 months I’ve focused on and sought out ways to live a happy, healthy and balanced life. And I feel like I’ve succeeded with all of that, but in all honesty I don’t feel like Beach Body Bliss really encapsulates what that means for me. When I started this blog and initially created the website, I had one goal in mind: Reach the point where I felt I was “beach body ready,” which explains the name. That was about a year and a half ago! Let me tell you, my heart and soul has done a complete 360 and nothing about my fitness journey has anything to do with looking a certain way in a bikini. I realized that some time ago.

… But what was I to do? Ditch my whole blog/website because of a domain name? I really did put in a lot of time and effort into all of it. Despite my concerns, I kept things going but suddenly I feel compelled to take the plunge and make a change.

What does that mean? I’m not entirely sure, I’m pretty sure it just means a domain name change… one that fits my lifestyle a little bit better. Yes my focus will always be fitness related, but living a happy, healthy and balanced life includes many different things. Exploring, hiking, traveling, clean eating, splurge meals, nights out on the town, and so many other ways that life can be enjoyable… and shared with others.

I don’t want to limit myself to being beach body ready!

When in doubt...
So! Who has had this happen? Have you changed your “brand” name? Glad you did it? Any advice!? Better yet, anyone have some name suggestions? 😄

  • I just recently went through this process too. I am in the middle of becoming a certified health coach and I wasn’t sure if my blog name and such fit my goals and purpose anymore. Yet I have built up a following and relationship with brands so what to do.
After searching out new names and actually talking to some PR people I decided to stay with what I have.
But I can also see your struggle with the name of your blog. Changing your name and such really wouldn’t be that hard and you can re-direct people from this page to the new one too.
Hope you are able to figure it out. Ask yourself where you will have the most peace and feel comfortable writing and go from there.

  • Oh my gosh girl, I am the SAME way. Even if I like the idea of something, as soon as I feel like I HAVE to do it, I immediately just don’t want to. And so I have the same experience with blogging. But once I get started with a post, I’m usually fine and enjoy what I’m doing 🙂

  • My blog is called Wholesome Paradise and I live in Boise, Idaho! I used to live on Kauai though. I struggled with this same issue when I left Kauai. I thought I needed a new domain name, but I’m glad I didn’t change it. Paradise is really anywhere that you’re happy. As for your blog name, you really need to follow your heart. I personally like your blog name. It’s alliterative and easy to remember. ‘Bliss’ makes me picture that you’re happy and I don’t really read too much into ‘Beach Body’.

  • changing your domain is fairly easy, but if you want to completely rebrand, make sure you can get all the social media accounts with the same name first. go ahead and grab them and the domain and then start. good luck!

  • I think if you feel the need to change, that’s the perfect time to do it. However, you could also spin up Beach Body Bliss to reflect the idea that you DO NOT have to look a certain way or weigh a certain amount to be “beach body ready.” it’s all about being healthy and having a body, right? 🙂

  • I’m currently in the process of deciding whether or not I want to change my blog name and I feel I have this conversation with myself at least once a year. But, after three years I still have the same url and domain name. I just change my focus every so often to include whatever interests me.
Hopefully you can figure it out soon!

  • I understand about not liking to be told what to do and having a blog is an obligation. I’m due to travel and working on getting ahead but back to your question. I think we all grow and evolve as we blog. I know I have. Now for your question on BeachBodyBliss. I don’t know that you have to change it because the beach can represent the freedom we had as kids when we went to the shore to play and explore all those seaside creatures. Body is our physical well being and bliss is a state of mind so why can’t it now represent an exploration of your inner child while working on staying healthy and happy?
